Keep An Eye Out

The Scripture of the Day is:

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek Me and find Me when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.

A story is told of the grandson of Rabbi Baruch of Medziboz who was playing hide and seek with another child.  After hiding and waiting a long time for his friend to find him, he popped out of his hiding spot only to discover that his friend was not looking for him.

The boy ran to his grandfather.  With tears rolling down his face, he explained that his friend had stopped looking for him.

In response, the rabbi said, “Indeed.  That is exactly what the Almighty Himself says: ‘I hide myself but nobody wants to look for Me.’” (Rabbi Aryeh Hendler)

Although every child enjoys hiding, he still wants to be searched for, and Rabbi Baruch wisely pointed out that God hides Himself because of our sins.  Nevertheless, He wants us to seek Him out and to really desire to find Him.

Sadly, like the child’s young friend, we too often fail to respond to the challenge to find Him.  But His promise remains that we will find Him when we search for Him wholeheartedly.

I am saddened when I read of Israel today; and the war that rages there.  I have to turn and think of America; has America left God, who has made us a great nation?  Does she search for God?  The answer is obvious; we only have to visit our schools to see that God has been pushed aside.  We have placed the wicked in high places that they might be used of the hand of the enemy to destroy our nation.  We daily see the destruction of our nation coming and being wasted.  Just as Hitler slowly took over a part of the world; the devil that lived in him is still alive and seeks to destroy what was once a Godly nation.  We have done a pretty good job of running God from every part of our country; and some of our lives.  I drive past little churches that used to thrive and they are turned into houses, antique stores and storage barns.   We must do what Jeremiah said, seek God with our whole heart.  He will be found if we will just seek Him and faint not.  The choice is ours; get serious and find God; or allow the enemy to destroy all that we hold dear.  Let us learn from the Jewish people and their mistakes before it is too late.  God is faithful and just; may we become faithful to Him.

Lord we thank you today that you have never left us; forgive us that many of us have forsaken you.  Help us to renew ourselves in you and search for you with our whole heart.  You are great and greatly to be praised.  Forgive us that we have replaced you with things of this world; you alone are the Almighty and there is nothing above you or that can even compare.  Help us to come near you that we might know you in your fullness and live our lives for you.  We repent for the sins of our country, our leaders and our people.  Help us and save us from the destruction the enemy has planned.  We submit our lives to you and ask for your intervention.  We ask these things in the name of your Son, Jesus, AMEN.

P.S.  In these last days that we are living we need to get as much of the word as possible.  If any of you have a ladies group at your church or Bible study that you would like to have a guest speaker, I would be anxious in the Lord to come and speak for you.  You may contact me at this email address.  Maranatha!
