The Sig Sauer P226 line of handguns has been adopted by both military and law enforcement worldwide. Glock may be the gun every novice shooter has heard of, but the Sig 226 is the premier sidearm for both Law Enforcement and Military Spec Ops. And for good reason. Both are reliable and accurate platforms, but the Sig does it with style.
With lines resembling an exotic Italian sports car, the 226 is pleasing to the eye. Just like a fancy dream car, you can also get it in a variety of finishes. From a high polish stainless, to the two-toned Equinox; you can get it the way you want it. Glocks are more like the original Ford Model T: you can get it in any color you want, as long as that is black.
The Sig also has some added features. Unlike a Glock, the Sig has an external hammer. I’m a big fan of not having to worry about manipulating a manual safety during a life or death struggle. The playing field is equal here, but the Sig is the only gun that gives you a choice. You can choose between an ultra-precise single action trigger pull or, if you have to holster your weapon, you can press the decocking lever and still be ready to go with a slightly heavier double action pull. With a Glock, you get the same crappy trigger pull every time.
Now, you will have to pay a little bit extra to get a Sig but, in this case, as in most cases, you do get what you pay for. You can go cheap and get something that will work. Or, spend a little more, and get a pistol you can be proud of.
